CUR is governed by bylaws and a governance structure, led by volunteer leaders who work together to advance CUR’s strategic plan and mission. CUR volunteer leaders can be found at all levels of the organization.
CUR is looking for volunteers who are committed to advancing the strategic plan and goals set forth and representative of all institution types.

The Board of Directors is the highest governance body of CUR and implements the strategic direction to advance the organization. Board leadership consists of Board Officers within the CUR Presidential Path (a four-year stepped rotation of: Treasurer, President-elect, President, Immediate Past-President) and Board Directors. Chaired by the CUR President, all board members serve as fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.

- (1) CUR Presidential Path (4-year term with a stepped rotation through the following roles each year: Treasurer, President-elect, President, Immediate Past-President)

Self-Nominations are open from October 15, 2024 – December 1, 2024.Â
All nominees will be vetted and interviewed by the Nominations and Leadership Development Committee. The NLDC will present an approved candidate slate for all BOD roles to the membership as part of the election ballot in early Spring 2025. The membership shall receive up to 30 days to nominate an additional candidate to be added to the final slate by petition with 3% of the membership signing their support. The final slate will then be presented to the Board of Directors for a vote. All candidates will be notified of the election status in April 2025. Announcement of election results will be made in mid-May 2025.
The CUR Council is a multidisciplinary body providing advisory input to the Board, so they can have a broader perspective when making resource investment decisions. The Council serves in a communication capacity, surfacing key items arising from the Divisions, bridging the insight of the Division to the work of CUR as a whole, and serving as one means of information and resource dissemination to the Divisions and members.

The Division’s Nominations and Leadership Development Committee (NLDC) will vet all Councilor nominations and select candidates to appear on the ballot. In early Spring 2025, accepted nominations will appear on a ballot that will be voted on by CUR members within the Division. All candidates will be notified of their election status in April 2025. Announcement of election results will be made in mid-May 2025.
CUR Divisions cover a wide range of disciplines working to continue to develop and support URSCI. The work of Divisions is done by Division Representatives who advance undergraduate research by providing networking opportunities, activities, and educational content. Their aim is to create and foster community and value within the organization. Representatives support the members of their division in activities and programs that align with the CUR strategic plan, mission, vision, and values.

The national Nominations and Leadership Development Committee is a year-round committee that is responsible for working with CUR leadership and staff to assess the qualities, skills, and diversity needed in board leadership in each election cycle; Solicit and identify top-tier candidates for Board level positions; Engage in a fair and transparent process of vetting those candidates to put forward a qualified and strong slate; Oversee the process of leader selection/election; and as needed, be available for input into the orientation and onboarding of each cycle of board leadership.
